The new paradigm for healing is embodiment, and this book is an in-depth model to understanding what that truly means. It is a service to all women who are on a path to integrating their physical, emotional, and energetic selves as a path to freedom.

Excerpt from the introduction:

The ancient medicine of Ayurveda can heal modern Western women. The question is, can modern Western women learn to live these ancient Eastern principles? From an early age, Mainstream American Culture has trained women to judge their bodies, obsess over weight, live at a fast pace, and disregard alternative medicine practices.

Women cannot just read about Ayurveda; women must understand how the disease of Mainstream American Culture has influenced their choices. They must break free from body insecurity and learned habits.

Despite commercialized wellness, women must realize that healing cannot be purchased. Rather, health and wellness are byproducts of everyday choices, positive mindsets, and overall communities.

Your journey has a map. That is the amazing thing about the long tradition of True Healthcare—the path was cleared thousands of years ago. You can take solace in knowing that everything you have been through has happened before, and people have written about the conditions that seem so personal to us for thousands of years. Our culture—this particular moment in time—has unique twists and challenges, but the ancient concepts still hold true and are within every woman’s grasp.

into the book

Excerpt from the Introduction:

*This book teaches the Ayurvedic tastes and seasonal eating principles and supports adding this healing information to your individual plant protein goals. Please note that this book is not making assumptions about your individual challenges and what medication is—for you—life-affirming. Please also note that trauma and the resulting learned nervous system patterns can influence the traits mentioned in this book. Separately, those with neurodivergent qualities who need to move and fidget are not experiencing “movement patterns” in the exact way as do other women. These women should integrate mindful motion into their daily lives, but they should love their inherent qualities and freely express the individual needs of their mind- body systems.

Excerpt from page 19:

Our culture encourages us to look for physical answers rather than emotional ones. Emotional unease is often translated as the need for physical improvement. A woman can easily become addicted to a never ending search for achievement or wellness. Our culture sees wellness as something to obtain, like a bottle of enzymes or a new superfood, but whereas Ayurveda may prescribe tailored herbal remedies, it is not itself a product. You cannot buy Ayurveda. Ayurveda is learned and lived by examining your mind and discovering which of your beliefs are hindering your emotional and physical health.

Excerpt from page 21:

You might hold on to a harmful belief because you want to continue your current lifestyle, and facing negative beliefs would mean acknowledging the need for change. And then what? You would either decide to put in the work needed to make the change or admit you don’t want to—either choice can feel equally daunting. And here’s the thing: information has been coming at you your entire life, causing you to live, believe, eat, and move the way you do. It’s no one woman’s fault that she suffers from the beliefs and attachments that are keeping her unwell. There is no blame or right or wrong in the pursuit of living a stable and healthy existence.

Excerpt from page 219:

What I am arguing in this book is that chasing after the elusive idea of absolute thinness has been hurting the health of all women and, as a culture, we do not know how to quantify those devastating effects—mentally and physically. A woman should never feel shame for struggling or having a condition that makes weight loss difficult and choosing medication. But some online drug companies are now running devastating commercials aimed at very young, thin girls, telling them that to get rid of a “few pounds before a wedding” they should inject themselves with their drugs. These ads—by intention—create body-dysmorphia and therefore, lifelong customers. We cannot teach all young girls that their bodies are incapable of finding balance, a message that cuts off the larger health-care journey. As an individual woman in an individual body, you must guide your daily choices by what allows you to feel truly good.

Excerpt from page 220:

Typically, Ayurveda suggests a lifestyle of moderation, and you can apply it cleverly to achieve your athletic goals. Here is the thing: pain comes from inside of you, as directed from the communication of your nervous system. If your body is tense and pelvic floor is tight and/or weak, and you load heavy weights, the pain you feel is coming from within. May you benefit from a supplement geared towards building muscle? Maybe. But you can never buy your way out of pain and into True Health. To have a healthy body, lessen your inner tension, mindfully explore muscle balance, proactively cushion sensitive joints, modify postures, and notice what physical actions feel healing.

This book is right for you if :

  • YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN THE EASTERN MEDICINE OF AYURVEDA, THE MEDICINE OF YOGA.

  • YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH NERVOUS SYSTEM SYMPTOMS AND DIGESTIVE SYMTOMS AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT DAILY STEPS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TO HEAL YOUR MIND AND BODY.

  • YOU ARE SEEKING INSPIRATION TO SLOW DOWN AND REEVALUATE YOUR DAILY WELLNESS ROUTINES AND ARE INTERESTED IN THE MINDFUL APPROACH TO FOOD AND FITNESS CHOICES.

True Health is created by acting steadily and with intention.
